Surfing for Marine Science
Let’s SURF the web (OK, it’s not salty and it’s not wet, but we’ll still have fun!) and explore the scope and nature of oceanography and its relevance in the modern world. We will investigate the sub-fields of oceanography (geology, geography, botany, zoology, chemistry, physics, ecology and mathematics). Get ready to explore marine archaeology! Learn how the tides determine life "on the edge." As students explore predetermined marine science subjects, they will be encouraged to take tangents and pursue their interests in this wide-open field.

Rock Band 101
Do you have the urge to play guitar like Eddie Van Halen, sing like Rob Thomas, or just perform in front of an audience? If the answer to any of these questions is "Yes!", then this is the class for you. Explore common instrumentation and the cost of acquiring equipment to start a group, interview an individual who performs locally as well as a potential employer, and design advertisements for a virtual band. Finally, develop a portfolio of music tailored to your interests and abilities. Music experience is a plus, but not necessary.

Do You Need Insurance?
